Please note that I am a formally certified Captain with lot's of experience and with a background in the boat industry. :-( The only compensation was "free" gas. No, after fixing the pump they prompted us to get out on the water again. We wanted compensation for the 3 h lost time and expected some kind of good-will gesture for the undesired "adventure". We had 2+ hours left to use it, but wife and son comletely lost confidence and the joy. We sat on the dock for 45 min while the owner changed the level switch and pumped out the water. We made it back to the renters dock before the engine stopped and the boat went in to real trouble. The "boat" seriously leaked and as the bilge pump failed to work the water level increased quickly and eventually flooded the battery. Non functioning instruments and powertrim. A really poor design of the boat so it easily took in water in the front. The owner claims he cannot update the site! Rented a 20ft Nauticstar. The prices given on the website are not correct at all. Highly recommend doing this, and doing it with Aquatic. My daughter and her friend had never been on a boat, and they had a blast. The day was very relaxing, and we all had a fantastic time. We went North first, went to Hillsboro, got out for a swim, went back South, docked at a restaurant for a bite to eat, then went up past MIllionaires Row to Las Olas before returning the boat. They went through the boat operations and all of the safety and other information (e.g., life jackets, anchor, clearing intake if needed, etc). The boat had a radio with speakers, and we plugged in our phone and played our own music. They provided a cooler and ice for beverages. They provided charts of the intercoastal that included where to go, where to stay away from, no wake zones vs where you could go faster, swimming spots, and places to eat. There were 4 of us, but the boat would have fit a few more with no problem. The people at Aquatic are very friendly and upfront with information. We rented a 20' boat from Aquatic Adventures, and we had a great day! The price was less than other boat rentals in the area, and when I called they told me all of the charges (tax & fuel extra), including an estimate of how much it would be based on experience. Maybe I caught the guy on a bad day, but I'm shocked that someone would ever behave this way to potential customers. Needless to say we didn't rent from them as I will also pay more for good service. Even if he couldn't tell me year of boat he could have inquired as to why I was asking the question and reassured me that their crafts are in good repair or something similar. Upon asking the question the guy said, "if you need to know the year rent from someone else," and hung up on me! I am always respectful to others so it wasn't as if he was responding to rudeness. I had a list of seven questions one of which was, "what's the year, make and size of boat? " I ask the question for obvious reasons as to make and size and I ask about year because we have been boat owners for over 20 years and often rent boats while on vacation to get a different perspective of the areas we visit and during that time have rented some very worn out crafts, so we will pay a little more for well maintained newer boats. Was calling around to find a boat rental for the day and saved aquatic adventures for my last call given their high rating as I expected to rent from them.
